Hash Club

As we mentioned in the previous update Pay Pal was giving us trouble. If you were able to pay through them do not worry we have your payment. But we are unable to use them now. Not too worry! We are negotiating with a local tour company to take payments through their credit card facility(VISA and MASTERCARD only). This should be up and running in the next week or so. We will send out an email explaining how to make payments for all of you who have registered but have been unable to pay. For those of you who have not registered once this new system is up and running you will be able to both pay and register at the same time. 

 This tour company will become the official tour company of Africa Hash 2011and are offering to help with accommodation bookings and with post amble tours and any other ambling you wish to make while in Ethiopia. Further details on what they will offer will be posted once we have confirmed the contract with them. Needless to say this will simplify all travel arrangements to and from Ethiopia leaving more time for beer consumption. 

Lastly Ethiopian Airlines has confirmed their offer of %25 off international flights to Addis ababa for the event! This will involve hashers applying through the Africa Hash Committee so that we can confirm you have registered and paid. We will then forward your info to the nearest Ethiopian Airlines branch office who will contact you about payment and issuing tickets. If you fly on Ethiopian Airlines to Addis Ababa regardless of the discounted fare you have the added bonus of receiving resident rates on all domestic flights within Ethiopia. This is a big saving for traveling by air around Ethiopia! The Africa Hash 2011 official tour company will be unable to book international flight but they will be able to book your domestic flights.

In the coming days we will be posting updates on the event itself, the pre amble in Uganda, and the post amble in Bahir Dar. In the meantime keep those registrations coming in and come run with LUCY!!!

Just a short note to all hasher who are trying to register for the Africa Hash 2011 in Ethiopia. You might have noticed that you are unable to pay.

We are currently unable to collect the registration fee due to a problem with Pay Pal. This is their problem but it has become ours and yours. We apologize for the inconvenience  and this will be resolved shortly. If you have already registered and paid do not worry your money is safe and you are officially registered for the hash. 

If you registered and were not able to pay we will contact you once Pay Pal is sorted out.  

If you have not yet registered please do so. We are still able to accept registration forms. Just complete the form and then ignore the payment page. Once Pay Pal has resolved this issue we will contact you about payment. 

Once again we apologize and will get this sorted out as soon as possible.

Flash!  A2H3 is pleased to announce that Ethiopian Airlines has been named "The Official Carrier" of the Africa Hash 2011 in Ethiopia!  In its agreement with A2H3 Ethiopian Airlines is offering a 25% discount on air fares from its 60 worldwide destinations to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for all Hashers registered for Africa Hash 2011.  In addition, all Africa Hash participants flying to Ethiopia on Ethiopian Airlines will be eligible for local resident airfares for all internal travel within Ethiopia.  Further information about the benefits of flying Ethiopian Airlines to Ethiopia for Africa Hash 2011, and how to book and pay for your flights, will be posted in due course.  ON! Lucy (also given a second Amharic name: dinqineš, or “Dinkenesh,” meaning “You are beautiful” or "you are wonderful") is the common name of AL 288-1, the nearly 40% complete skeleton of an Australopithecus afarensis specimen discovered in 1974 at Hadar in the Awash Valley of Ethiopia's Afar Depression.  Lucy is estimated to have lived 3.2 million years ago.  The discovery of this hominin was significant as the skeleton shows evidence of small skull capacity akin to that of apes and of bipedalhumans, providing further evidence that bi-pedalism preceded increase in brain size in human evolution.
